It took 90 minutes for Wrexham AFC to learn a hard lesson. The Premier League giants Chelsea thrashed the Reds 5-0 in its first friendly in the US tour. The Blues were all over the Welsh club, giving them no chance of a comeback. And after a disappointing loss, the club’s co-owner Rob McElhenney has sent a warning to Chelsea.

Chelsea made a meal of Wrexham by thumping them 5-0. It took just less than three minutes for the Londoners to open the scoring. Chelsea dominated the game throughout. As a result, the Reds had their first shot on target in the 78th minute. But despite this thumping, McElhenney has thanked Chelsea, but with a friendly warning.

Despite fans brutally trolling Wrexham and Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney garnered attraction with an epic tweet. The Reds co-owner took to Twitter after the 5-0 loss and wrote, “Thank You, Chelsea!!! Hopefully, we’ll see you again in 5 years or so:)” Well, that’s some ambition from the It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star.

The Reynolds and McElhenney duo has set their sights on the Premier League in the next ten years. But it seems the heavy loss to Chelsea has changed the mind of McElhenney, who has set a timeline of five years to meet Chelsea in the Premier League. It will be an uphill task for the Red Dragons, but not impossible. Luton Town can be the best example of it.

Now all the eyes will be on the Red Dragons after a heavy loss to the Londoners. The fans will hope the club and the players come back from the disappointing loss. They will travel to LA next to play LA Galaxy II before playing Manchester United. Wrexham will warp the tour with a friendly against Philadelphia Union II in McElhenney’s hometown.

Meanwhile, the impact of the Wrexham and Chelsea game is touted to be massive on the Chapell Hill economy.

According to Paolicelli, the game will enormously impact the locality. He said“We are guesstimating right now — and that’s all we can do, as this is the first event of its kind in Chapel Hill — but the belief is this will be worth around $20 million to the area.” That’s some impact the Wrexham game will have. Only time will tell the exact figure.
