Shakira, despite her split with ex-boyfriend Gerard Pique, has partnered up with his ex-employers to launch a massive project worth $16 million. The Grammy award-winning singer’s actions did not go unnoticed as her announcement received massive praise from a fellow Colombian singer-songwriter.

The Colombian icon has done a lot for the development of her country for decades. The singer is hoping that her actions can help children all across Colombia.

Shakira made a massive announcement this weekend in her hometown, Barranquilla, at an event. During the show, Shakira took to the stage as she announced that her Barefoot Foundation alongside her ex-boyfriend Gerard Pique’s former employers FC Barcelona will be opening a new school in the city. The singer was praised for her actions by fellow Colombian singer Lucas Arnau.

Arnau took to his Twitter account as he praised the singer for continuing to give back to her people. He wrote, “Shakira is and will always be the greatest artist that this country has ever given birth to, not only because of her great talent, but also because of her immense heart, thank you Shakira for giving so much to Colombian children.

Following the announcement of the event, Shakira also took it to her social media as she shared the $160 million worth project announcement with her fans across the world.

Colombian icon announces her $16 million partnership on social media

The singer took to her Instagram account as she shared a video clip surrounding her plans to help the children across Barranquilla. Additionally, she wrote, “Nothing better than coming back to Barranquilla and this time inaugurating this new Barefoot school that will serve 1050 students. Thanks to our allies Fundacion FC Barcelona, La Caixa LaSalle College Foundation, Mayor Pumarejo, Mayor of Barranquilla, and the Secretary of Education for adding efforts and betting on the future of Colombian children.”
