As per the numbers, 42% watched the Matildas on Channel 7 alone, even before considering the other live sites that people were watching from. Interestingly, this record caught the eye of MLS legend Taylor Twellman, who gave a two-word response.

The former U.S. soccer star wrote, “Amazing. Speechless.” Certainly, his reaction is valid, as it is indeed a humongous number that the Matildas and the Lionesses have clinched. This record has led Australia to write their names in the history books.

Although an official statement is yet to be made, Vlatko has reportedly reached an internal agreement to resign as the head coach of the US Women’s National Team. Subsequently, the decision becomes much easier for the 4X champions as Vlatko’s contract is set to expire that he signed back in 2019.
