An unfortunate day for Cristiano Ronaldo as he missed out on completing another hattrick. The Portuguese soccer sensation scored a header only to be ruled out by VAR. The ruling was based on the concerns that Ronaldo was a little too aggressive and shoved the player a bit more than allowed. Ronaldo had another chance to complete his hattrick but displaying his leadership qualities gave a penalty to Abdulrahman Ghareeb, who wasn’t able to convert it into a goal.
The PFA awards in England though came as a bit of a relief as Ronaldo’s and Gareth Bale’s record stood unbroken as Manchester City striker Erling Haaland missed out on a golden opportunity. Let’s have a look at what happened at the award function.

It was the 50th anniversary of the PFA awards at the Lowry Theatre in Salford. The stage was set as Nigerian Artist ‘Davido’ performed for the audience and football stars. The tensions dropped and soon the awards were distributed. Erling Haaland won PFA’s Player of the Year award while Bukayo Saka won the Young Player of the Year award. A stiff competition between the two where Haaland could’ve gone home with both accolades. A feat that would’ve broken Ronaldo’s and Bale’s record of winning both accolades in the same season.

Erling Haaland had a record-breaking first season in EPL with Manchester City. Haaland scored a total of 52 goals across all competitions which included 36 goals scored in 35 games breaking the all-time highest goal-scoring record in a single season. Bukayo Saka on the other hand, played in all the 38 Premier League matches with Arsenal. Saka scored 15 goals in all competitions and provided 11 assists.
