Shakira is currently in an ongoing renaissance. With several hit songs including a diss track against ex-Gerard Pique, the Colombian singer has constantly topped the charts and garnered numerous awards. However, her latest song might land her in legal trouble, as her ex-father-in-law, Joan Pique, is reportedly considering suing her.

Shakira’s most recent release is a collaboration with the American regional Mexican band Fuerza Regida called ‘El Jefe‘. The track so far has been a hit among fans, amassing over 26 million views on YouTube. However, it is a particular line in the song that has caught the attention of Pique’s father’s legal team and sparked the potential for a lawsuit.

In the song, the Latin singer apparently took a dig at her ex-father-in-law. The verse goes like this:  “They say that there is no evil that lasts more than a hundred years. But there is still my ex-father-in-law who does not set foot in a grave“. These lyrics, seemingly aimed at Joan Pique, have not been received well by his legal representatives.

According to sources, the lawyers of Joan Pique have already sought his opinion on whether he wants to proceed with a lawsuit against his former daughter-in-law. The Mamarazzis, Laura Fa, and Lorena Vázquez, who have been reporting on the matter, claim that Joan Pique’s legal team is currently waiting for his response.

As of now, Joan Pique himself has not issued any official statement regarding the possibility of legal action. It remains to be seen whether he will choose to pursue a lawsuit against Shakira, but the potential exists. It is worth noting that this wouldn’t be the first time he has issued a legal notice to Shakira, as he was responsible for her eviction from her house in Barcelona.

In April, Shakira and her two sons made the decision to relocate to Miami. This move had been postponed for several months due to her parents’ health concerns. But she ultimately decided to leave earlier than expected. Gerard Pique’s father unexpectedly served Shakira with an eviction notice, which forced her to hasten her departure.

Joan Pique sent an e-mail, which stated that Shakira needed to vacate the property by the end of April or face significant compensation charges. Consequently, she had no choice but to quickly leave. The current state of their relationship can safely be best described as strained and distant compared to how it used to be.
