As the new campaign nears, domestic teams around the world continue to prepare for the pre-season fixtures. Likewise, Cristiano Ronaldo also joined his Al Nassr teammates last week after enjoying a brief vacation. The skipper must be looking to fix things up after enduring a poor debut season. However, things aren’t going exactly the way he wants.
A number of exciting fixtures are lined up for Al Nassr as they prepare for the new campaign. However, the Riyadh-based club recently suffered a massive thrashing from one of the European teams. In fact, after the match, one of the rival players even hailed CR7 in a unique fashion.

Yesterday, CR7 finally warmed up his boots on the pitch as he started in one of the pre-season games. The Portuguese superstar faced his former Real Madrid club’s domestic rivals, Celta Vigo. Ronaldo also made his first start for Al Nassr in preparation for the upcoming campaign. Unfortunately, what was expected to be an exciting clash turned into a nightmare.
Unfortunately, Cris and his teammates were thrashed 5-0 by Celta. While the result has led the town to talk, it is the after-match shenanigans that have caught the eye of many. After the match, one of Celta’s players, who goes by the name Hugo Sotelo, took the opportunity of his lifetime.

The 19-year-old midfielder quickly ran to meet Ronaldo outside his locker room and got a picture clicked with him. Sotelo even shared the picture on social media with a symbol of G.O.A.T. It seems the young prodigy is a huge CR7 fan, as he went to meet his idol. Seemingly, poor Ronaldo had to smile after enduring such a thrashing from Sotelo and his teammates.
Yet, it’s good to hear that he clicked the picture very naturally with Sotelo, as both posed with their thumbs up. However, after a brief photo session, the Al Nassr skipper must be reflecting on his team’s performance as they continue to struggle.

With the new season ahead, the stakes are high for Ronaldo and Co. Both Al Nassr and CR7 endured a poor season, as they suffered three failures in major domestic competitions. Indeed, they must be gearing up for the new campaign with high hopes. They are coming with the same ambition in this year’s preseason.
Although they won their previous fixture against Portugal’s second-tier club with a decent score, their recent thrashing shows they are still struggling. Whatever it may be, they must quickly get back on track before the new campaign begins. Moreover, the squad overhaul of their Saudi Pro League rivals definitely gives them a reason to act fast. It remains to be seen how they fix themselves.
