Transfers between SPL clubs are getting pretty neck to neck. The SPL has done some big business in getting players from abroad into their teams. The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Benzema have joined the league among others. However, when it comes to the transfers of players between each other, which is, one SPL club with another, there’s been some fierce competition.
In the latest turn of events, Al Nassr brutally rejected a move from SPL rivals Al Ittihad for a big money move of one of their players. The player in contention is defender, Abdulelah Al-Amri.

As per reports, Al Ittihad offered to buy the Al Nassr centre-back Abdulelah Al-Amri in a huge deal. The total value of the transfer was set to be around $20 million. But in a twist, Al Nassr categorically rejected Al Ittihad’s offer.
According to this tweet on X by a member of the Saudi Sports Media Federation, Al Nassr rebuffed the offer despite its high value. The tweet translates to: “Al-Nasr rejected the Al-Ittihad club’s offer of Captain Abdulelah Al-Amari, which amounted to nearly twenty million. Al-Nasr has no intention of opening a deals and transfers page with Al-Ittihad, except in the same way, player by player”

This is quite a bold move from Karim Benzema’s Al Ittihad. Especially considering Al Nassr are their direct rivals in challenging for the SPL title. The 26-year-old defender is an integral part of Al Nassr’s defence and he’s also a very important cog in new manager Roberto Mancini’s plans.
Meanwhile, on the pitch, it’s been a story of different results for both SPL rivals.

Al Ittihad have started the season in prolific fashion. The club currently lead the Saudi Pro League with a perfect 100% record. Al Ittihad have won 4 out of their 4 games played and are at the top of the SPL league standings. The club have got 12 points from 4 games and deservedly lead the table.
However, comparatively, Al Nassr have been patchy to say the least. They’ve lost 2 and won 2 and are currently 6th in table. This also put a lot of pressure on Al Nassr boss Luis Castro. But considering their back to back losses in the first two games, Al Nassr have come back with emphatic wins.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s side have won 5-0 against Al Fateh and 4-0 against Al Shabab. The club won both games on the trot with their mercurial captain CR7 scoring a hat-trick and a brace in each game respectively. Neymar’s club Al Hilal, on the other hand, currently sit in 3rd. But will also be vying for the title. It’s certain that the SPL title race has only begun, but seems like it could go down to the wire by the end of the season.
