After Shock ‘100% No’ From Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe Ditched by Kevin De Bruyne For $194,320,000-Rated Teammate

The recent Real Madrid press conference came as a shocker for Kylian Mbappe fans. Los Blancos were rumored to sign Mbappe in this transfer window but coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed that they were ‘100% done’ for the window, having signed Jude Bellingham from Dortmund for a big-money move.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Kevin De Bruyne was asked to select who he believes will win the Ballon d’Or. His answer shocked viewers as he ditched Mbappe for his $ 194,320,000-rated teammate.

De Bryune ranks Kylian Mbappe third

Not many would’ve expected the sequence Kevin De Bruyne had in his mind when he was asked to rank the youngest soccer player he believed would win the prestigious Ballon d’Or. The options presented to him were Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and teammate, Erling Haaland. De Bruyne was quick to rank and placed Haaland first on the list.

The Belgian then picked Vinicius Junior for the second position and placed Kylian Mbappe in the third position. Considering Haaland’s form last season, having scored 36 goals breaking Mo Salah’s previous record of 32 goals in a 38-game campaign, and City’s treble-winning season, he’s a big contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

As to why De Bruyne didn’t rank Mbappe above Vinicius Junior he says, “I don’t know where Mbappe will play this season. I also think it’s more difficult for Mbappe to win at PSG. There are rumors that he will move to Real Madrid, so I might put him above Haaland. But Erling is my choice for this year with the kind of season he has had.” Let’s compare how the current season is going for Mbappe and Haaland.

Kick-off to a new season as rivalry brews

A lot has happened already with Kylian Mbappe this season and most of it has been off the pitch. Amidst conversations of a move to Real Madrid, a contract extension with PSG, and an offer from Saudi, the saga is almost turning into a Mexican stand-off between the player and his club.

On the other hand, Erling Haaland has been on a roll. The Norwegian is at all the right places tapping in wonderful goals. The athleticism the Norwegian harnesses is praise-worthy.  Haaland has scored 2 goals in the two opening fixtures of EPL and has won the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla FC.

With De Bruyne out with a hamstring injury and Pep Guardiola out till September, it will be exciting to watch Haaland perform under a few difficult conditions.
