If someone had told me that Wrexham would have what it takes to bag promotion at the start of the season, I’d have shrugged it off as a casual joke! However, the Red Dragons have proved their critics wrong with the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney co-owned side securing promotion to League One. With two games still to go, the side picked up a rampant 6-0 win over Forest Green last night, consolidating their spot amongst the top three teams on the standings.

While fans have been full of joy following the team’s achievement, no one might be as elated as Ryan Reynolds himself. The Deadpool & Wolverine star could not contain his emotions as he penned an emotional note to congratulate the team. Ryan Reynolds posted an image of himself alongside Rob McElhenney on his Instagram story adding, “A few years ago, if you had told me I would be crying tears of joy over a football match taking place in North Wales, you would be Rob McElhenney. Congrats to Wrexham and my co-chairman in crime. Double up the town! This is the ride of our lives.”

Ryan Reynolds followed up his message by sharing another congratulatory message on his stories from fellow supporter Harshal Dave. Dave, in his post, added an image of himself next to Reynolds, claiming, “What a team! What a story! What a dream! Here we go.”

While Wrexham has finished one of their targets, the team is still in the running for the League Two title. However, getting their hands around the coveted title could be an uphill challenge for the side with the Red Dragons 4 points behind table-toppers Stockport.

Can Wrexham give Ryan Reynolds another reason to celebrate?

While the promotion dream has been put in the pocket, Wrexham can still aim for bigger things. Lifting the League Two title could be a big achievement for the Welsh club, and it isn’t completely out of the equation. However, it isn’t going to be a walk in the park, that’s for certain. You see, Stockport is currently at the top of the standings with 86 points from 43 games. Meanwhile, Wrexham is second in the standings with 82 points from 44 games.

If the team wants to have any chance of lifting the title, Ryan Reynolds has to hope for Stockport to lose their next couple of games and then beat the table-toppers in the final fixture of the season. Even if the Welsh side manages that, the league title is not in their hands. For the abovementioned circumstances to succeed, Wrexham fans have to hope that Mansfield Town wins just 1 of their last 3 games. The entire scenario seems like a dream booking, and it would be better if Wrexham put their focus on finishing things on a high!
