Pique points out, quoting, “For me, the American concept of sport is much better than the European one. In the NBA, there are 30 franchises, and they all row in the same direction because they have the same interest. In Spain, for example, thanks to Javier, interests were brought together by selling joint television rights. But there were many years when this was not being done.”

He further added, “Another advantage of the United States to match is the salary cap. For some time now, we have been waiting for a Financial Fair Play at the European level, but due to a political issue, it does not exist. This means that teams like Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City have very big advantages for the reasons we already know. Barcelona and Madrid, which are owned by the members and do not invest their money, will find it increasingly difficult to compete in Europe.”
