Inter Miami suffered a devastating setback just hours ago that still leaves the squad reeling. Lionel Messi and Co. were preparing to embark on a two-match friendly tour of China. But in an unfortunate turn of events, it was canceled due to the unexpected passing of a Former Chinese Premier. While this keeps them off the pitch for more than four months, the Herons seemingly with no choice have been forced to play a friendly match within the U.S.

Meanwhile, exciting news surrounding the new season surfaced yesterday as Miami will be signing another best pal of Messi.

Inter Miami took an early break from their MLS season after their playoff hopes took a dash. Notably, the club arranged two friendly matches in China to bridge the gap of four months before the next season began. However, the matches were canceled due to the demise of Former Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. Despite hoping that Miami and the games’ promoter, the NSN, would work together to find alternative dates, the trip to China was called off.

While this left Miami in a do-or-die situation, it seems the club has been able to find a solution to this problem. As per the Miami Herald’s journalist Michelle Kauffman, with the Chinese matches being called off, Miami is considering the possibility of playing a friendly match at DRV PNK Stadium on November 10, just before the FIFA international break.

This friendly could potentially be arranged against another MLS team that did not make it to the playoffs. Kauffman insists the match could be against the New York City FC, who also took an early leave from the MLS. Be that as it may, it is a big update regarding their off-season activity. Additionally, the reason Miami was tensed for its non-activity was because of Messi.

With the lack of game time, it would have been difficult for La Pulga to maintain his fitness, eventually leading to a possible injury. Moreover, it remains to be seen whom they play the friendly against. Meanwhile, great news for Messi, as he is in for another reunion at Inter Miami.
