Despite two games remaining, the season for Inter Miami is pretty much over. After getting out of the MLS playoff race, the Herons’ season will be ending with just a Leagues Cup win. Now that they will be out of action for over four months, the hopes of witnessing a sensational reunion between Lionel Messi and Barcelona were recently ignited. Although Miami had deliberately shunned the rumors, even if his reunion happens, it would end in just 6 games.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia had brought bad news for Barcelona who have been dreaming of bringing their legendary player back.

After Miami officially concludes their MLS season on October 22, Lionel Messi will be free from his domestic duties. David Beckham’s soccer franchise will return directly for the new season at the beginning of February. This four-month break has fueled rumors of his return to Barcelona. Although Tata Martino previously stated that Messi might return to Barcelona but not to play, reports of him coming back to Spain persist. But there is a twist to his return.
Since he cannot be loaned in the middle of the season, the skipper would need to make a loan move during the January transfer window. Even if he makes the move in the first month of 2024, he would only be able to play in 5 La Liga games and 1 Champions League match, primarily because Miami will kick off their new campaign in early February.

Hence this makes it inconvenient for both Messi and Barcelona. Additionally, Miami wouldn’t be interested in sending their player. The Florida side is already keen to prepare for the new season ahead. Be that as it may, it’s unlikely that Messi will reunite with his former team. As if Barcelona’s loan rumors were not enough, Saudi Arabia also came with bad news for the Catalans and the Herons.

Saudi Arabia brought unpleasant news for Barcelona and Miami
Similar to Barcelona, Saudi Arabia has put forward a loan proposal to bring Messi to their country. The former PSG star will become available after Miami’s final match against Charlotte FC. Hence, this period until the end of February is when SAFF and the PIF are actively working on securing his signature for one of the Saudi clubs.
Internal assessments and evaluations are currently underway in Saudi Arabia, and updates on this matter are expected soon. Notably, player loan moves during the offseason are not unprecedented. In the past, David Beckham joined AC Milan while playing for LA Galaxy. Moreover, Thierry Henry signed a two-month loan deal with Arsenal during his time with the NY Red Bulls. It remains to be seen what developments occur at this stage.
