It is an important time for Asian soccer, as the biggest tournament in the continent is near. Players from top clubs in the SPL, including Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr, will be with their national teams. However, an Al Nassr star who recently said no to an extension, will now coincidently not make it to the Asian Cup. Roberto Mancini and Co. have reportedly decided against picking the 22-year-old after he suffered an injury, a few days ago.

The Saudi Pro League has given local players a chance to gain experience in the past months playing with big stars. But after Ayman Yahya‘s agreement with Al Nassr failed, the Saudi winger will miss out on a big opportunity to prove himself on the global stage.

The highly talented Ayman Yahya would have been excited to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, a year ago. But now it looks like the star will not only miss Al Nassr after a few months but will also not feature in the Saudi national team in the AFC Asian Cup due to injury. The AFC Asian Cup, which is the equivalent of the UEFA Euro, and the CONCACAF Gold Cup is expected to start on January 12. As per reports, Yahya sustained an ankle injury during the friendly match against Lebanon on January 4, which has kept him away from Roberto Mancini’s squad. The player has been undergoing treatment and was also sidelined from the training sessions.

Ayman Yahya has played only three games for his country and is yet to cement his spot in the starting XI. He is also yet to contribute to the scoresheet. Nevertheless, the 22-year-old is considered to be a star of the future, even with his club keen to keep him. However, it looks like things haven’t panned out as per the plan.

Ayman Yahya rejected a six-figure Al Nassr offer twice

Yahya’s negotiations with Al Nassr have not hit the target. The player has declined two proposals from the Riyadh club in the course of one month. The first offer was given in early December, which included a fee of $800,000 per year for a contract of three years. But after the first rejection, Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. decided to tweak a few things and presented a new deal with the updated terms.

The next offer saw Al Nassr’s Chief Executive, Guido Fenga, cut short the pay to $666,000 per year with a 4-year timeline. But the 22-year-old didn’t seem too keen with that either. With his club contract and the Asian Cup appearance still in the air, 2024 could turn out to be the most important year of his career. Any thoughts? Let us know in the comments below.
