French giants Paris Saint-Germain have endured a difficult start to the 2023-24 season to say the least. The club let go of arguably their two best players in the form of Lionel Messi and Neymar. But despite holding onto their French superstar Kylian Mbappe, and appointing Luis Enrique as manager, the club hasn’t performed as per expectations. The Ligue 1 champions succumbed to a 4-1 defeat to English club Newcastle in the UEFA Champions League. A $2.86 billion food company took a cheeky dig at Mbappe following the club’s loss. This comes shortly after a Brazilian influencer asked the club to “eat sh*t” while referring to selling Messi, Neymar, and Verratti in the summer.

Mbappe had a game to forget as he didn’t score or assist. He failed to even hit the target and had an ineffective game against the English side. This prompted one certain Newcastle fan to post a tweet suggesting that Mbappe was thinking about food at Greggs during the game, to which the UK-based food chain replied back in a hilarious tweet on X.

Following PSG’s heavy 4-1 loss to Newcastle United, one Newcastle fan took to X to comment on Kylian Mbappe. Posting a screenshot image of Mbappe, the Newcastle fan tweeted that Mbappe looked like he was thinking about eating “Greggs stake bakes”, to which the food company replied tweeting, He’s welcome to come 4-1 this morning…

The dismal star to PSG’s European campaign has already given birth to speculation about the inevitable Kylian Mbappe departure rumors. However, there is merit to the argument as the World Cup winner’s deal runs out at the end of the season. Real Madrid and clubs from Saudi Arabia made enticing offers in the summer to sign the Frenchman. However, Mbappe chose to stay at the club and will aim to assess his options at the end of the season. However, a move to Real Madrid is most likely with the deal gaining blockbuster momentum according to the La Liga president

Real Madrid can flex financial muscle by signing Mbappe according to La Liga president

As we reported earlier after La Liga released their spending caps for Spanish clubs for the 2023/24 season, La Liga’s chief Javier Tebas said, “With the salary limit that Real Madrid has, it was enough for Mbappé and another player.”

Real Madrid have a staggering $775.5 million in their spending cap, which puts them in the front seat to sign Mbappe. This is over double compared to Real’s Spanish rivals Atletico Madrid who only have a cap of just over $315 million, while Barcelona accrues over $288 million in spending power.

PSG are currently in 5th place in Ligue 1, after finishing last season as champions. However, should the club’s results and poor showing on the pitch continue, they could find it difficult to hold on to Mbappe if Real Madrid comes in with a new bid.
