With the goal, Hurtig made history as Sweden became the first team to knock Team USA out of the World Cup before the semi-final stages. Fans have now urged that the Swede get a tattoo of the iconic penalty that ended USWNT’s dream. Hurtig responded to the requests and said that if Sweden manages to win the World Cup, she would think about getting an ink of the moment.
“If we win gold, it’s not impossible. The (goal-line) picture I’ve seen a lot, the penalty not so much. I don’t want to see it again. I get a little pain in my stomach, actually. There’s so many feelings that come up when I see it.”
Sweden will now be up in action against Spain in the semi-finals of the tournament. The winner of the game will face the winner in the second semi-final between England and Australia. Sweden, in their nine attempts, has failed to win the World Cup title, but a win over Spain will definitely put the side in strong contention.
