The pre-season friendly between Wrexham and Manchester United saw the team winning 3-1 in a breathtaking display. It became a match attended by thousands of fans, only to witness a shocking injury. Everyone knows the impact of Paul Mullin on the team, and the star forward suffered a lung puncture. He collided with United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop and had to be given oxygen on the pitch. Therefore, the Welsh soccer club is in the market to replace him

Mullin would take around six to eight weeks to recover. In the meantime, Wrexham needs a soccer player to lead the line. One target they focused upon was Barnsley’s James Norwood. Unfortunately, Ryan Reynolds received discouraging news about his pursuit of the striker when the club manager discussed the possibility of departure.

According to the Barnsley Chronicle, Neill Collins, the club’s manager, expressed his ambition to keep their best players. Collins explained, “Clubs want good players. He’s scored for goals in pre-season, he’s good at pressing. If you’re at a club no one wants your players, you are in big trouble. A lot of people want our players but thankfully we’re in a position to control who gets to leave. If anything, we have just got to add to them.”

Many star players get poached away from their clubs because of their reputation. Stronger clubs have the upper hand because of their pulling power. Therefore, a lot of lower clubs suffer from this riddle. Yet, Norwood looks to stay with Barnsley and continue scoring goals for the club. When you look at the stats, it is no surprise that clubs want Norwood.

Heading to the new EFL League Two season, Wrexham start their campaign against MK Dons on August 5th. Yet, without Mullin, the club could face an issue to score goals. So, bringing in a replacement would be crucial for the team’s success in the upcoming season. The star striker scored 46 goals in all competitions, leading the team to an impressive promotion.
