French commentator Pierre Ménès has questioned the link between Neymar’s exit and Mbappe’s return, calling that the Frenchman could be responsible for all things, acting behind the scenes to influence things to his liking.

“I can’t believe it, because of the relationship between the two players on the pitch – after all, if they don’t have the same life off it, who cares? It was magical, and Neymar made Mbappe score a lot of goals, and Mbappe is too intelligent to ignore that.”

“I find it hard to believe and I’d put it down to a kind of collective hallucination and also a more general attempt to destabilize Mbappé on the theme of ‘he’s the great Satan, the great manipulator’. Don’t kid yourself! A PSG without Neymar, why not, but who’s going to give the ball to the strikers? That’s the real question.”

Based on numerous reports, PSG manager Luis Enrique wanted to get a quick change in his squad, and getting Neymar offloaded was one of his priorities.
