Al Hilal was unable to salvage a victory in their inaugural game of the AFC Champions League. Neymar played his first game in the AFC CL with the Blue Waves, but he wasn’t able to generate many goal-scoring opportunities in this fixture. However, a sports commentator criticized Al Za’eem’s manager for this performance and condemned his tactics to the Saudi-based club.

Al Hilal managed a disappointing draw against the Uzbekistan side, Navbahor. The manager never expressed concern about the outcome but rather questioned the match referees for their subpar officiating of the game. In this instance, a Tunisian commentator portrayed his distress about the credibility of Al Za’eem’s boss following the game.

Issam Chaouali, the sports commentator, shared his perspective about Jorge Jesus after their Asian Champions League match. The Tunisian broadcaster expressed disapproval for the strategy enforced by the 69-year-old coach on the Saudi side. Furthermore, Chaouali believed that Al Hilal needed a superior coach than Jesus to perform exceptionally well in the league and the upcoming fixture.

The commentator remarked in an interview, “I follow Al Hilal, but Jesus does not seem suitable for Al Hilal. Adjust your team, Jesus, adjust your team”. Al Hilal clinched a 1-1 draw against Navbahor in the 100 minute, avoiding a defeat in the first game of the Asian Champions League on their home soil. Neymar failed to make a significant impression on this AFC CL debut for Al Hilal. The Brazilian maestro only exerted a notable effort with a close-range header that was saved by the rival goalkeeper during the dying minutes of the contest.

Following the match, Jorge Jesus voiced frustration with the UAE-based referee and blamed Al Hilal’s draw for the substandard refereeing throughout the game. But what did he exactly say?

The Portuguese manager struggled to grasp the Uzbek side’s strategy to disrupt the game with frequent interruptions. Jorge Jesus was convinced that numerous Navbahor players deliberately went to the ground, feigning injury to stop the game’s rhythm. The match halted every five minutes or more, which disgusted the coach, resulting in an unfavorable outcome in the end.

The ex-Flamingo coach noted that the match officials helped the Uzbekistan side with their tactics and distracted the game. Jesus remarked in the post-match conference, “The referee helped them and had no say in everything that happened. For me, the referee is of the same level as our opponent”. Al Za’eem currently sits the second place in Group D of the Asian Champions League, trailing Nassaji by two points. Soccer fans and the club hope to reverse their fortunes in the match against the Group D leaders on 3 October as the season moves ahead.
