The soccer world was once again left in surprise ahead of the Copa America 2024. As the USA is hosting one of most passionate soccer festivals, it was former USWNT legend, Carli Lloyd who grabbed some unwanted attention due to her recent take on Lionel Messi. The Argentine captain is one of the most admired soccer stars in the world and was recently compared to Christian Pulisic by Lloyd. However, this did not go well with the supporters who chose not to respect the 2015 World Cup winner for her take recently.
As a well-informed expert after her retirement, the former American striker’s opinions are usually found insightful by fans. However, she recently said, “There is nobody like Messi and I don’t think that there will be somebody like Messi, like it’s a generational talent. It’s like Maradona. And then Messi has had that crown. But there’s other players, Jude Bellingham, you know Pulisic’s coming up,” which caught the ears of the fans. The supporters then started flooding comments on social media saying that neither Pulisic nor Jude Bellingham should be brought under the 8-time Ballon d’Or winner’s category.
Nevertheless, Lloyd gave an honest justification saying that she will back her nation’s superstar no matter what. She replied to one fan’s criticism saying, “Relaxxxxx gotta give some 🇺🇸(country flag) love!” and shut down another fan by replying, “Is this English? Have a good one. ✌🏼.” It appears that the former Olympic winner is not backing down.

Meanwhile, Pulisic has been one of the most talented players the USA ever produced. The AC Milan star notched up 15 goals and 11 assists this season and has already won the UEFA Champions League in 2021 with Chelsea playing a major role in the semifinals. The right winger will be USMNT’s key player on the pitch with already 29 international goals to his name. But, the star has a chance to prove as he competes alongside the Inter Miami captain.

Christian Pulisic can get ahead of Lionel Messi in terms of numbers as the World Cup winner’s goalscoring prowess has slightly declined than before. Fans will keep in mind how USMNT will be the underdogs in 2024 Copa America despite hosting the tournament. However, their draw against 5-time World Champions Brazil would have boosted their morale immensely.
It was once again Pulisic who was their star in that game, scoring the goal in the 26th minute, and now hopes to repeat the same form coming into Copa America. However, Messi once again showed his impact in tonight’s win against Canada. Even though Messi wasn’t able to score, his deliveries into the penalty area were utilized by Alexis Mac Allister and Lautaro Martinez, securing victory for Argentina. Therefore, the USMNT youngster would also aspire to have such an effect on his team and do the unthinkable ahead.
