Even at 37, Rapinoe continues to play at the highest level of soccer. But there must be a secret to her success, which she revealed after lifting the 2019 World Cup.

Even during the 2019 World Cup, Rapinoe was still above 30. Aside from working tirelessly on the training ground, she revealed the key to her success is fueling her body properly. “Overall, my philosophy is just to put good things in my body,” she says. “I don’t really eat anything artificial, fake, or that I can’t pronounce. I try to keep it simple and clean.”

Be it any meal, Rapinoe insists she always embodies fiber-rich veggies, protein, and a serving of carbohydrates in all of her meals. “For lunch, I either have a sandwich and a salad or a grain bowl with sweet potato and farro,” she added.

Rapinoe also revealed a variety of energy-rich foods, including chicken and fish. “Unless we’re going out—then it’s a free for all,” she said. The forward also stressed the importance of hydration, as sometimes she takes electrolyte water to get an extra hydration boost.

This is indeed a top-notch fitness diet, which Rapinoe has followed to this date. After all, she needs those gains to maintain herself and keep herself at the top level. In fact, it seems her secret diet has been working, as she continues to lead her domestic side to glory.

The diet seems to be working its magic, as Rapinoe is currently leading her side to a win. The OL Reign recently rallied for a 5-2 win against the Chicago Red Stars. Braces from Bethahy Balcer and Jess Fishlock, and an own goal from Yuki Nagasato helped them clinch an emphatic victory.

Rapinoe came in the second half of the match, thus helping her side win with such a brilliant score. The Reign is currently sitting in second place, a point behind the Portland Thorns.
