The American fans are in for the soccer fest. Messi’s move and his presentation took over the Vice City recently. Messi was the talk of the town and will remain so because of his GOAT stature. But the FC Series, organizers of the Chelsea versus Wrexham game, CEO Ricardo Villar, feels the Argentine will attract a lot of people who know Messi to the soccer stadiums. Messi will change the dynamics of the soccer in country. However, amid this, Villar feels Wrexham is the next big thing in the US after Messi.

And Villar has his reasons. “I think Wrexham is the next story,” Villar said. He also highlighted the importance of Welcome To Wrexham for this. Villar said, “The way the documentary played this whole relegation and promotion drama and brought that to America, which doesn’t exist in the sports here, I think it captivated the new audience.”
He added, “I think a lot of the fans that will be here in Kenan Stadium, they’re not necessarily big soccer diehard fans, but they’re going to be here and attracted to their story and check out the sport. And it will be an electrifying evening. And sure, there will be new fans coming out of this evening,” ahead of the Wrexham and Chelsea game. Villar praised the opportunistic owners of the Welsh club.
Ricardo Villar hails Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney
In MLS, there’s no relegation or promotion drama. The Americans following other leagues like that in Europe are aware of the relegation and promotion. But the way the Hollywood duo brought that drama to the US through documentary played a crucial role in the club’s ever-growing new fanbase.

And Villar feels Reynolds and McElhenney have grabbed that opportunity well compared to other clubs. The docu-series showed the complete drama behind their failed attempt at promotion last season. Now that the Reds have got a promotion, Villar labeled it a ‘so special’ journey by wishing Wrexham luck for another promotion. This captivating journey will help the club increase its fan following over time.
