Earlier today, Inter Miami beat Orlando City SC 3-1 in an important Round 0f 32 clash of the Leagues Cup. The match marred by questionable refereeing decisions was overshadowed by Lionel Messi, as always.

The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner’s brace, along with a superb penalty by Josef Martinez, was enough to ensure Miami’s qualification. Since the legendary trio of ex-Barcelona players arrived in Miami, their fortunes have seen an upward trend. David Beckham‘s son Romeo Beckham hence took to Instagram post-match to shower praises on the trio.

Inter Miami fans, including Romeo Beckham so far, have been thrilled with the trio’s on-pitch impact. Hence, the Brentford FC player took to social media to share his appreciation for them.

After the match, Romeo Beckham shared individual photos of Sergio Busquets, Lionel Messi, and Jordi Alba on his Instagram story. He serenaded Messi’s photo with a barrage of ‘goat emojis’ while Alba’s Miami presentation photo was captioned with a bunch of “smiling face with heart eyes” emoji.

While the scoreline paints the picture of a comfortable win, things on the field were as heated up as they could have been. The match held at DRV PNK stadium had a proper derby vibe, with the fans cheering in their best form. Messi opened the scoring in the 7th minute, which was quickly negated by a sublime finish from Cesar Araujo.

The deadlock was then broken with a penalty by Josep Martinez in the 51st minute. The penalty call was the talking point of the match as it was heavily contested by the Orlando coach with Oscar Pareja labeling the refereeing as “ridiculous”. He believed that Messi should have seen a red card in the match. Moreover, he doubted the credibility of the penalty.

On the other side of the spectrum, Pareja’s counterpart was in blissful mode thanks to Leo’s performance. When quipped the G.O.A.T.’s 4 goals in three matches so far, Martino nonchalantly said it’s nothing unusual for Messi. “We are talking about a player that scored 40 goals in a season. It makes sense for him to score four goals in three matches,” said Inter Miami’s head coach.
