On Tuesday evening, the Esports universe received an unexpected announcement that would have left them pleasantly surprised. Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi was venturing into the world of Esports as a co-owner of KRU Esports alongside his close friend, Sergio Aguero. The news was revealed by the former Manchester City star on his social media handle.

Aguero posted a 3-minute video in which he unveiled Messi as the co-owner of his Esports team. While the Esports world is already in the process of digesting La Pulga’s news, they were dealt with another shocking development. After Aguero posted this video, it caught the eye of Manchester United icon David de Gea.

Interestingly, the Spaniard wrote a comment saying, “Voy llamando a @Cristiano @RebelsGaming,” which translates to, “I’m calling @Cristiano @RebelsGaming.” In a unique turn of events, after seeing Messi join the ranks, De Gea has now urged the Argentine’s long-term rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, to join his Esports team, Rebels Gaming.

Now, the Latin American company is set to have two owners, with Messi being the latest one. Aguero had some heartwarming words while sharing the ownership news. He said, “I am happy to share a club with Leo, of course now in a new stage and with other challenges. It is an honor that he is part of KRU. He is the best footballer in history, and also a great friend.”
