Last year, Cristiano Ronaldo shocked the entire soccer community after accepting a $200 million deal from the Saudi club. Since then, Saudi Arabia has become a lucrative career option for top soccer players. Despite receiving criticism for ditching European soccer, many soccer players are following the Portuguese star’s footsteps and joining the Saudi league.
Notably, he influenced several top players, such as Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kanté, and many more, to move to the Saudi Pro League. Although Lionel Messi and Mbappe have already turned down the crazy billion-dollar deal, the Saudi league’s financial allure is an opportunity any athlete would think twice before turning down. Furthermore, Ronaldo’s rival club manager recently announced their future plans to surpass the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

A few weeks back, renowned Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus got reappointed as the new manager of the Saudi Pro League club, Al-Hilal. Jesus previously managed Al-Hilal in 2018-19; moreover, he led them to a Saudi Super Cup win over rival Al-Ittihad. The Portuguese coach’s signing was no joke as he once again helped the club regain its lost glory.
Jesus led Al-Hilal to qualify for the semi-finals of the Arab Champions League with a 3-1 win over Al Ittihad. Furthermore, he again lit up the fans’ lost hopes of seeing the club’s success. Jesus showcased a moment of nostalgia and took fans back to Al-Hilal’s victory over Al-Ittihad in the 2018-19 campaign.
However, it’s important to realize that the Saudi League is on a completely different level than before. After the joining of top European players, the Saudi Arabia soccer dynamics have changed drastically. Moreover, it wasn’t an effortless task for Jesus to stop Al-Ittihad’s attack, especially with the presence of Benzema on the field.

Surprisingly, Al-Hilal’s manager disclosed the club’s future plans to secure a major reinforcement for the attack. He said, “Our opponents have [Cristiano] Ronaldo [Al Nassr], Firmino [Al Ahli], Benzema [Al Ittihad]… We are in the process of signing a player of this magnitude for the team and I am sure that the president will achieve this.”

Jesus also talks about the club’s performance and complimented their counter-attack strategies. “We played a game within what has been this tournament, improving with each game. Against a good team, the Saudi champion, with great players. But we were a very well-organized team, very strong on the counter-attack. We won with all due merit and justice,” he further adds.
Jesus claimed that their next signing will be on the pair of Ronaldo and Benzema. Indeed, after the arrival of top goalscorers in Saudi Arabia, it’s essential for Al-Hilal to make necessary changes to the squad.
