After Kissing Scandal, Luis Rubiales in Hot Water Again For $25,700,000 Offer to Gerard Pique Involving Saudi Arabia

Forner Spanish FA President Luis Rubiales continues to be in deep waters. Following the kissing scandal from the Women’s World Cup 2022, Rubailes has now been accused of illegally using the association’s funds. According to emerging reports, this also involves former Barcelona star Gerard Pique and his company Kosmos. Following the new allegations, Rubiales is yet to make a comment on the situation.

Luis Rubiales was all over the headlines following his scandal from the finals of the Women’s World Cup. The former Spain FA President unsolicitedly kissed star Jenni Hermoso during the prize ceremony. Following a wave of protests, Rubiales was forced to step down from his position.

Luis Rubiales accused of allegedly paying Gerard Pique for favors

According to the latest report published by Spanish media outlet El Mundo, Luis Rubiales and Gerard Pique were involved in a monetary transaction. With the transaction between the two was hidden from Pique’s employers in 2019. Rubiales had allegedly paid Pique $25.7 million to help him move the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia through his company Kosmos.

The deal between the two was apparently kept a secret from FC Barcelona, with the club just receiving $8.5 million from the Saudi deal. Following the emergence of the new leaks, media outlets across Spain have reached the FA and Rubiales for an answer. However, no party involved is yet to make a statement on the matter.

Things have been bleak for Luis Rubiales this summer. The Spanish FA President was involved in a highly documented scandal following the World Cup. While Rubiales was adamant about not leaving his post, the constant outrage has forced his hand.

After a long-standing dispute and press conferences, one after the other, Luis Rubiales has decided to step down from his position. Luis Rubiales had made it clear that the players had an agenda against him and he wouldn’t resign. However, Rubiales had to back down following the constant pressure.

Rubiales has also faced the ban hammer from both UEFA and FIFA as they have suspended him from any football-related actions for the coming three months. Rubiales currently is under investigation by UEFA, FIFA, RFEF, and the Spanish government looking to hold the former President accountable for his actions.
