Shortly after Ronaldo left Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid’s biggest task was to find his replacement. In the midst of their search, they were able to find a perfect gem from Brazil, Vinicius Jr. While the speedy winger took his time to settle in, he went on to become an important element of the squad. In fact, his efforts were duly noted by Los Blancos, who made him the club’s new No. 7.

The shirt does carry a lot of weight, given the history of prior owners. Hence, Vini took his time to speak on the occasion. In an interview with Marca, while talking about becoming the new No. 7, his inspiration turned out to be Ronaldo. “I’m very grateful to wear this jersey that many other great players have worn,” he said. “I am inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo because I’ve watched all of his games and he marked an era at the club. He’s an idol for me.”

The Brazillian was giving the interview with his attacking partner Rodrygo, who is apparently the new No. 11 of the club. He also spoke about the number change, saying what the number means to him and how he liked it since childhood. Rodrygo revealed his inspiration for the number as the 6X Champions League winner, Paco Gento.

Furthermore, the CR7’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary as his legacy continues to inspire generations of footballers and fans alike.
