Throughout the summer, Kylian Mbappe was the center of attention in the transfer window. The French superstar was widely expected to make his dream move to Real Madrid. But several factors ultimately kept him at Paris Saint-Germain. While Madrid may rekindle their interest next summer, they should brace themselves for a potential setback, as the striker’s relationship with the club appears to be improving.
Already, the 14-times UEFA Champions League winners faced a $432,000,000 roadblock for signing Mbappe. Now, they might encounter another obstacle.

This summer’s transfer window saw Kylian Mbappe go one-on-one against his club Paris Saint-Germain. As he failed to reach an agreement on a contract extension, Real Madrid jumped in between to lure him to Spain. But PSG was strong enough to block his move. Subsequently, Los Blancos also stepped back due to the player’s hefty price tag.
Although Madrid may knock on PSG’s door again next year, they shouldn’t be surprised if no one answers, as here, PSG is sweetening their relationship with Mbappe. As stated by French Football Weekly, “The relationship is super, super positive, especially between the player and the president. We see in training or on the pitch how much he enjoys playing his football, how determined he is to do his best for PSG, it’s very positive”.
Certainly, this is good news for PSG, who will be able to keep hold of their star player. Even now the situation hasn’t changed as he hasn’t signed any extension. Mbappe still has the power to negotiate a free transfer to any club from January 1. However, given that the relations are improving, PSG might be able to keep him at Parc des Princes and even sell him for the desired price.
On the other hand, it’s bad news for Real Madrid, who had already faced a $432 million obstacle.

Real Madrid fronted a $432 million barrier in Mbappe’s pursuit
Despite Kylian Mbappe’s immense talent and influence, investing a staggering $432 million in him would be deemed highly tactless. The financial commitment becomes even less appealing when one considers that the 24-year-old is in the final year of his contract. Therefore, if any team plies patience for a year, they can secure the Parisian prodigy at no cost.
Given the massive agent fees and wages, free transfer still proves considerably more economical than splurging on an exorbitant fee. Certainly, it was a gamble that Madrid played. However, they could be in for a surprise if Mbappe inks a new deal. In such a scenario, should they still desire the Frenchman, it could cost them a fortune.
