Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr has never shied away from talking about any injustice. The Al Hilal star often talks about social issues on his social media and it seems a recent incident hit too close to home for the player. The Brazilian recently posted a story on his Instagram account holding fake news accountable for an unfortunate incident reportedly causing the death of a twenty-two-year-old.

This is not the first time Neymar has spoken out against fake news. Earlier this year, multiple media outlets reported the player was not happy with his role at Al Hilal and wanted the upper management to sack manager Jorge Jesus. However, the player quickly refuted the claims, stating he has nothing but a good relationship with the Al Hilal boss.

Brazilian media were left shellshocked last night, with the family of Jéssica Vitória Canedo confirming the death of their daughter. Unknown to many, Canedo was involved in a fake news controversy with certain media outlets linking her to comedian Whindersson Nunes.

Neymar, in his story, tagged the incident while stating, “Many gossip sites, TV networks, and all kinds of media outlets have to be very careful about what they post or say. To the Haters… you who propagate hatred, you who know everything, you who own the truth, you saints who are never wrong, congratulations, you have made yet another victim.”

He then added, “There’s no such thing as respecting others on the internet! Real hatred of all those people who hide behind a profile to speak ill of someone else. Wanting to be the first to break the news can end someone’s life. NOT EVERYONE HAS A STRONG MIND.”
