Lionel Messi sent shockwaves across the world when he announced his decision to join Inter Miami. The move surprised many since it is evident that the Argentine still has a lot left in the tank. After all, he is fresh off from winning the World Cup and Ligue 1. As expected, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner wreaked havoc with 6 G/A in his first three matches. Messi and Inter Miami next face FC Dallas in the Round of 16 of the Leagues Cup.

While most managers in the world will be cautious with their tactics when facing Messi, Dallas’s Head Coach seems to differ and has made a bold claim instead.

Earlier today, FC Dallas Head Coach, Nicolás Estevez, was asked the age-old Messi question during his pre-match press conference. The Dallas gaffer was quipped about his plan to stop Messi and as expected, he first conceded that it will be a tough job thanks to Leo’s alien-like skillsets. He quoted Pep Guardiola to convey this sentiment.

“Pep Guardiola has already made it clear. The team that Lionel Messi is in is always a favorite,” said Estevez. But he also conveyed that he wasn’t bogged down by this as he and his boys will try their best to ruin Messi’s picture-perfect campaign so far.

“We will try to be the bad guys in Lionel Messi’s story in Major League Soccer (MLS),” said Estervez boldly. He planned to do this by employing special plans against the Barcelona legend. “You don’t usually need so much logistics, but Messi’s arrival changed everything,” revealed the Dallas gaffer. Meanwhile, his counterpart seems to be fully ready to counter anything thrown at him.

“We expect the typical difficulties of a match like this because you can come out victorious or get eliminated,” said Martino. He then acknowledged Dallas’ quality but also expressed confidence in his team. “But we will be visiting with a more complete team. Dallas has players with great potential from midfield to forward. Will have our work cut out for us,” opined Martino
