Everyone still can’t seem to forget the horrifying incident. Following the incident, many soccer stars sympathized with the unlucky player, including Cristiano Ronaldo.

Marcelo was in the process of dribbling past Luciano Sanchez when his leading foot accidentally collided with the Argentine’s shin, resulting in a clean leg break. While the 35-year-old was visibly distraught upon witnessing the severity of the injury, his teammates tried their best to offer comfort and support. Despite the unintentional nature of the challenge, VAR intervened and issued Marcelo a red card in the 58th minute.

After the match, Marcelo shared a touching message for Sanchez, expressing his heartfelt wishes for a swift and full recovery. “Today I had to live a very difficult moment on the field. I unintentionally injured a fellow professional. I want to wish you the best possible recovery, @luciano.sanchez03. All the strength in the world!” Interestingly, Marcelo’s former teammate and best friend, Ronaldo, also sympathized with the injured player.

The Al Nassr man posted a folded hands emoji, empathizing with the injured Sanchez. In fact, the CR7 wasn’t the only soccer star, as Marcelo’s former Madrid teammates, Vinicius Jr., and Federico Valverde, also showed their compassion. While Vini also followed Ronaldo’s folding hand comment, Valverde wrote, “These things happen. Luciano, speedy recovery.”

Ronaldo’s first season at Al Nassr wasn’t much of a success. While the 38-year-old may have found his way through the back at the net, the skipper failed to lead his new side to glory. The Jeddah-based club endured not one but three domestic failures. Indeed, it wasn’t the start Ronaldo was looking for.

However, with the new season just around the corner, Ronaldo will be looking to take things on a much more serious note. The Pro League is already becoming much more competitive as European stars continue to arrive. Hence, it gives CR7 and Co. a much greater reason to give everything on the pitch.
