A short while ago, Inter Miami held their MLS match against Nashville SC, resulting in a draw. Lionel Messi and his teammates couldn’t extend their winning streak, as both teams settled for a tie. Interestingly, alongside the regular fans, Floyd Mayweather was also present to witness the Argentinian superstar’s performance, prompting various reactions from the fan community. Surprisingly, in addition to observing Miami’s deadlock, the boxer saw La Pulga get ditched for a $5.46 million rated teammate!

It’s worth noting that this was the same opponent they conquered in the Leagues Cup final to secure their inaugural championship. However, this time their strategies fell short, preventing them from securing the crucial three points.

It wasn’t the way Inter Miami and Lionel Messi were looking to end their night. Despite keeping the higher possession and breaking the defenses, they couldn’t conjure up a goal. Already Messi wasn’t pleased with the result, as another major thing sprinkled salt on his wound. Apparently, the skipper got overshadowed by his $5.46 million-rated teammate!

This comes after Miami’s center-back Kamal Miller received today’s Man of the Match award. The accolade that goes by the name, ‘Heineken Star of the Match’ was given to Miller instead of Messi. Indeed, it is quite surprising to see another Miami star than the skipper get the award. Perhaps it must be that Messi firing blank led the award go to his defender teammate.

Interestingly, it was just days ago that the whole Miami fanbase was urging David Beckham to sign a new center-back. However, now it seems his club’s own defenders are looking to take the matter in their own hands. Certainly, they have stepped up and improved their game, which eventually saw one of the center-back get the award. But coming back, it’s odd to see Messi go home empty-handed.

Interestingly, just before the game kicked off, the official MLS social media account of the team posted about both Mayweather Jr. and MLB Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. attending the match. It’s truly heartening to witness such high-profile figures, especially Mayweather, who dug up some time to witness Messi and his teammates on the field. Although it won’t be the performance Messi would have wanted Mayweather to see, the boxer’s presence undoubtedly left a captivating impression on many.
