Wrexham looks to be aiming for trophies beyond their achievements on the soccer pitch. The Welsh club’s documentary, ‘Welcome to Wrexham,’ has been a global sensation since its release. Already savored the taste of winning 5 Emmy Awards, the series is now in contention for another prestigious honor, having earned a major nomination at the National Television Awards.

Among the 15 categories, Welcome to Wrexham has been shortlisted in only one: the Factual Entertainment genre. Competing for the award against 44 other nominees, Ryan Reynolds and Co.’s project will face direct competition from other sports stories, including ‘Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story,’ Amazon Prime’s ‘Married to the Game,’ Manchester United’s treble-winning coverage series ’99,’ and Gary Lineker’s ‘Match of the Day.’ Interestingly, in the Authored Documentary category, films ‘Beckham’ and ‘Rooney’ are set to compete among 14 other nominations.
