After retiring from soccer, Gerard Pique swiftly turned his attention towards expanding his business ventures. Pique’s most recent and famous business venture is the Kings League. The league is a new seven-a-side competition that has been shaking up the world of soccer.

Not to mention, the FC Barcelona legend reportedly earned millions from the ‘final four’ at Camp Nou. Moreover, the first season was such a success that it gave the Spaniard enough confidence to bring back the second. Interestingly, Gerard Pique once more gained the spotlight and drew attention to the Kings League after announcing an increase in players’ salaries.

Gerard Pique announces a rise in Kings League players’ salaries

Besides the on-field achievements of the Barcelona legend, he has been an astute entrepreneur with a net worth of about $80 million. Pique’s latest business venture, Kings League, has become immensely successful and popular in the soccer world. He even generated over $3,000,000 by organizing the ‘final four’ at Camp Nou.

After seeing such enormous success, Pique will look to majorly expand the Kings League in the next few seasons. Furthermore, in order to satisfy the league players, the Spaniard announced a major change. Pique finally fulfilled the promise he made to each of the players within the 7×7 championship by announcing an increase in wages for the next season.

“We want a lot of level and, therefore, we are going to raise salaries. We have spoken with the players and the presidents. It is a very thoughtful decision with which we have been working for a long time, ” the former FC Barcelona defender told the broadcast.

“From now on we are no longer going to talk about salary per game. It will be annual. It will be like a normal season, from September to the end of June” added Pique in response to the active criticism.

The former Spanish soccer player shocked the world by announcing another new change, exclusivity. It means the player will be prohibited to join teams outside the Kings League, something that has raised the doubts of many players.

What’s the change in Kings League players’ salaries?

The Barcelona legend pleased several fans and players by fulfilling his promise. Pique revealed that the salaries will be distributed according to the pick and from the second draft. The Kings League has allocated a total of 50,000 euros in the budget of its players.

Out of all, 25,000 euros will be invested in paying the salary of newcomers; whereas, the rest 25,000 will be spent on the rest competing. These would be the salaries:

•  1st Pick: 7,500 euros per year.
•  2nd Pick: 6,250 euros per year.
• 3rd Pick: 5,000 euros per year.
•  4th Pick: 3,750 euros per year.
•  5th Pick: 2,500 euros per year.

Of 33 games in total, each player could collect a maximum of just over 227 euros per game (about 908 euros per month). Although it’s not a hopeful figure, it’s worth mentioning that the difference is mind-boggling, earning approximately triple than what was before.
