After David Beckham Chopped Off His Hair, Ex-Teammate Recalls 20YO Hairdo That Once Embarrassed the Inter Miami Owner

David Beckham is one of the most iconic names in the soccer world. However, he isn’t limited to soccer only, as his fashion sense is also one of the talking points. Also known for his bending free kicks, the fans often imitated the English legend for his fashion, especially the haircuts. One of his teammates also did the same, as he couldn’t resist getting himself the iconic hairdo.

The Inter Miami co-owner has sported several haircuts in his career. Most of them became fan favorites. With the former LA Galaxy superstar going ‘skinhead’ recently, his former England teammate divulged on the famous 2023 cornrows. 

A former English goalkeeper wanted to imitate the 2003 haircut

Former English goalkeeper David James was on the show In The Locker Room by talkSPORTS. James rated his choices of iconic haircuts during the show, which started with 2003’s famous cornrows by David Beckham. James is also one of the soccer stars known for his different hairdos during his career, like Beckham. 

The former Liverpool goalie reflected on Beckham’s famous 20o3 cornrows. While speaking on the show, he admitted to having done the hairdo before Beckham but admired Beckham for having the cornrows.

The Inter Miami owner loves all his hairstyles but always had a regret over the 2003 cornrows. But what was the reason for it?

Recently speaking on his hairstyles, the former Real Madrid superstar said, as per Daily Mail, “People ask if I have any regrets about my hairstyles, and while I don’t regret any of them, I do sort of regret cornrows.” And that’s because after putting them, he met the iconic South African leader Nelson Mandela two days later.

“I got to meet the great Nelson Mandela. And the picture that I’ve got of Nelson Mandela is me holding his hand with cornrows in my hair. That’s my only regret.”

Interestingly, his 2000 mohawk also landed the Manchester United legend in trouble.

Iconic Beckham hairdos and the recent bald look

Sir Alex Ferguson wasn’t impressed with it and asked him to shave his head immediately just before the game. Beckham also sported floppy blonde hair in 1998 and transformed to a ponytail in 2003 after forcefully going bald in 2000.

It seems the English legend has rolled back years after recently chopping off his hair again. He shared the new look, reminiscent of 2000, over his Instagram story. It will be interesting to see whether the Inter Miami owner rolls years back to bring another iconic haircut back from the past!
