Last year, Cristiano Ronaldo surprised everyone with his move to Al Nassr. Apart from being one of the most influential sportspersons, the Real Madrid legend also became the highest-paid athlete in the world. At first, while many criticized Cristiano for ditching European soccer and opting for the Saudi league, the current scenario is such that many soccer players are following in his footsteps and joining the Saudi league, even for money.
Notably, after the transfer of the Portuguese legend, several top soccer players, such as Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kanté, and many more, have joined the Saudi League. Now, after joining the Saudi League, Ronaldo’s former teammate at Manchester United has revealed why Al Nassr was his first choice.

Earlier this week, Manchester United confirmed an agreement with Al Nassr for the transfer of Brazilian left-back Alex Telles. The 30-year-old, who spent the previous season on loan at Sevilla, has left the English Premier League giants to join Ronaldo’s team in Saudi Arabia. Despite his impressive performance for Sevilla in 2022, Telles found securing a spot in the Red Devils starting lineup a troublesome task.
Therefore, the 30-year-old decided to seek newer pastures and later joined Ronaldo’s team, Al Nassr. Although financial details weren’t disclosed, media reports suggested United would receive around 6 million pounds ($7.71 million) from the deal. Following the move, it thrilled fans to see Telles reunite with his former teammate, Ronaldo.

Besides the whopping contract offer, Telles also reveals that Al Nassr’s project was the primary reason to join the club, according to Bola Na Rede. He said, “I am a human being before being a player; I love challenges. And when I received proposals, I chose Al Nassr as my first option because I love challenges and the project that the club presented.”
