It turned out to be a brief international trip for Cristiano Ronaldo. Soon after, he rejoined his Al Nassr teammates. The captain is currently in preparation with his teammates for today’s SPL clash against Al Raed. While the players and coaches were gearing up for their upcoming game, some on-the-pitch arrangements were also made ahead of the fixture. Notably, a new ‘foreign’ referee has been appointed.

In the past, there was an incident when Ronaldo’s goal was ‘incorrectly’ denied. However, it appears that in an effort to ensure fairness and rectify such situations, a new referee from overseas will be officiating the upcoming game.

Just days ago, Cristiano Ronaldo netted an extraordinary header. But despite its brilliance, VAR ultimately disallowed it. This incident is just one in a series of officiating errors that have afflicted numerous Saudi League matches, leading to mounting frustration on the part of Al Nassr. In response to these recent events, a fresh foreign referee has been designated for Al Nassr’s next match which is against Al Raed.

The new referee who will be officiating for both sides is Wilmar Roldan. Hailing from Columbia, Roldan has joined a special group of referees from around the world who have recently been officiating sporadically in the SPL. Hence, he has been summoned to officiate the match between Al Raed and Al Nassr. EL VAR CENTRAL reports Roldan will have Alexander Guzmán and his brother Miguel Roldán as his assistants. Handling the VAR duties will be another Colombian, Mauricio Pérez, who is frequently selected for BetPlay League matches.

The decision to bring in Roldan perhaps signals Al Nassr’s eagerness to ensure fair decision-making by the referee. Their star player, Cristiano Ronaldo, has already fallen victim to several unfair judgments. Meanwhile, reports came earlier that Al Nassr was looking to splurge money on foreign referees for all matches this season. Nevertheless, let’s hope the new foreign referee does not make any mistakes. This isn’t the first time a foreign referee will be officiating a match. Several notable foreign referees have previously overseen the matches.

Lahoz, who officiated the Netherlands vs. Argentina World Cup match, was called for the derby encounter between Al Ittihad and Al Ettifaq. And now, Wilmar Roldan is the latest addition to the list of foreign referees. Certainly, bringing in professional world-class referees eliminates any possibility of unfair decision-making.
