It’s true that when it rains, it pours. Lionel Messi also finds himself in a similar situation as he is dealt yet another disappointment. Initially scheduled to face China in a friendly match, the Argentina national team’s plans were dashed as the fixture was abruptly canceled. Now, adding to La Pulga’s national team’s misery, the much-anticipated friendly against Nigeria has also been called off. But despite all of the chaos, there is a ray of hope, as they luckily have a replacement lined up.

According to ESPN journalist Fernando Palomo, there has been a last-minute alteration to La Albiceleste’s schedule for the upcoming month. Lionel Scaloni’s side was facing Nigeria on March 26 in Los Angeles. However, due to severe logistical problems, it has been deemed impossible for the West African nation to fulfill its commitment to take part in the friendly. Hence, this has left FIFA no choice but to schedule Argentina’s friendly with Costa Rica.

Meanwhile, there are no changes slated for their match against El Salvador on March 22 in Philadelphia. This justifies why he would miss the 6th MLS game for Inter Miami against New York Red Bulls. Notably, this cancellation against Nigeria comes just weeks after their friendly against China was called off. Lionel Messi missing the Hong Kong XI clash with Inter Miami was touted as one of the alleged reasons for the match getting canceled. Regardless, La Pulga did offer his formal apology to the Chinese fans.

Without a doubt, Messi will be looking to put on a show in these upcoming friendly matches. After all, these are some busy months scheduled for the 8X Ballon d’Or.

Lionel Messi will be juggling too many things at once

Things are about to get steamy for Lionel Messi. The icon is expected to row both domestic as well as international boats. Aside from these international friendlies, La Pulga would be playing every week for Inter Miami. The 36-year-old is a must for the Herons to help them maintain their momentum in the ongoing MLS. In fact, from June 20 to July 14, he would be busy for the Copa America.

It doesn’t end here, as Messi is also slated to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics, which will run from July 26 to August 11. Argentina U23 boss Javier Mascherano is eager to include La Pulga and Angel Di Maria in the summer games. However, it’s unlikely that Inter Miami and Tata Martino will approve his 2-month absence. Either way, there’s a lot in store for Messi in the 2024 campaign.
