It’s rather evident that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have transformed Wrexham AFC‘s fortunes. They’ve made all the right moves when it comes to recruitment since buying the club in 2020. Now, the Welsh outfit has hit a new high after manager Phil Parkinson’s latest record-breaking achievement. This comes after the 12:30 am deadline day collapse of Wrexham’s intended transfer of Harrowgate Town striker Luke Armstrong. Nevertheless, the club was boosted by the $214,000 signing of veteran Premier League striker Steven Fletcher.

The Red Dragons made a stuttering start to life in EFL League Two. However, Wrexham gaffer Phil Parkinson has turned things around and has achieved a landmark record, which perhaps further strengthens both owners’ faith in their manager.

The Welsh side won 2-1 against Doncaster Rovers yesterday in their EFL League Two match. It was an important win for Wrexham in their bid to qualify for EFL League One at the end of the season.

But the win was a record-breaking one for Red Dragons boss Parkinson as he became the fastest manager to reach 75 wins for the club – he managed to accomplish the feat in just 119 games.

A statement on Wrexham’s official website read: “Phil Parkinson’s 75 win as Wrexham manager. Parkinson is the 11 Wrexham manager to reach 75 wins. Parkinson got to 75 wins in 119 games, the fastest any Wrexham manager has reached this figure.”

Further comparing his achievement to former Wrexham manager Andy Morrell, the statement read: “He achieved the milestone 22 games quicker than the previous fastest – Andy Morrell in 141 games.”

The 53-year-old Parkinson was hired by the Wrexham owners in July 2021. This was part of their expansive rebuild and vision for their project at the Racecourse Ground. After gaining promotion to EFL League Two last season, Parkinson has now achieved this feat which clearly indicates that he was an astute appointment by the club’s Hollywood owners. Nevertheless, for the Wales outfit, it was a slow start to life in EFL League Two

The return of star striker Paul Mullin also boosts Wrexham. Mullin, dubbed “the non-league Haaland” by fans was out injured in preseason but came on as a substitute in the 60th minute, in the second half against Doncaster. This was music to the ears of Wrexham fans, who have missed their star forward for some time.

With Mullin back, Parkinson achieving this record, and Wrexham on a two-game winning streak, it looks like the club has turned the tide from their sluggish start to the new season.
