Anheuser-Busch InBev’s Budweiser is a firm advocate of women’s sports. As an official beer sponsor of the tourney, they released a video with Lionel Messi featuring it. It is their effort to extend the popular #BringHomeTheBud to the Women’s World Cup, too.

Budweiser captioned the video, “A record-breaking 32 teams are playing in this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup. Not only one will know what it feels like to be the champion.” It will be the first-ever Women’s World Cup that will see 32 teams competing since its inception in 1991. It comes as a part of FIFA’s initiative to promote women’s soccer in more countries.

Budweiser will start something new this time. They will bring back the BringHomeTheBud crates of beer to help the winning teams celebrate. Also, the beer giant will release a scintillating final version of the video at the end of the tournament to celebrate the champions. Budweiser wants to use its marketing leverage to promote women’s sports.

They debuted the campaign in Qatar for the men’s World Cup. However, it didn’t go as per plans for Budweiser. Not on the campaign front, but the actual sale of the beer at the stadiums. Qatar had its regulations that prohibited them from selling beer in the stadium, a crucial revenue stream for any brand. It caused an uproar.
