After Accomplishing Unique Feat, Inter Miami Star Contemplates on Goal Celebration With ‘The Best’ Lionel Messi

Soccer clubs acquire players either through acquisition or youth development. Enter Benja Cremaschi, who made a difference during the penalty shoot-out of the US Open Cup semi-final. He scored the winning penalty to send Inter Miami to the finals of the cup competition. And so, in a recent podcast with Tim Ream, Cremaschi discussed how Lionel Messi jumped onto him to celebrate the goal.

Messi has continued to score sensational game-winners ever since he arrived in Miami. For a young 18-year-old to have arguably the greatest player of all time to jump on the shoulders is just a dream too good to be true. Yet, it happened. The lay key player explained the moment and spoke about it in detail in a recent podcast.

Cremaschi also scored a goal in the 4-0 victory over Toronto. There are talks of the young star playing for Argentina over USMNT because of his roots in the country. But the player has already won his first cap for the USMNT. Nevertheless, to have his idol celebrate with him is a dream come true, as Benja Cremaschi spoke about the moment. He stated, “He just pointed at me, kind of like dedicated it [to me]. An amazing person and will never celebrate by himself. It’s incredible. Just the moment he jumps on me, it’s like, it was like another dream.”

The player could not believe what happened. He continued, “The best player, you are celebrating a goal, an incredible goal with him. I called my family after, and they asked, “How was it like?” and ended by exclaiming, “I didn’t want to let him go. I didn’t want to let him go.” Benja is a player who can play across the midfield and does his attacking and defending duties to perfection.

The player arrived through the Inter Miami academy just like Messi arrived on the grand stage with Barcelona. So, what did he feel when he met him?

Cremaschi saw him first in the parking lot, where he “felt empty, like there was a weight on me.” He stated, “I was so nervous to meet him, but he was such a calm guy, so it was easy to interact.” To meet your idol and play alongside him is something a few players can boast of. Cremaschi now enters that list!
