In the 89th minute of the game, a fan of Port Vale suddenly ran from the stands avoided the security, and started chasing around the referee. This incident happened when Portsmouth was leading 1-0 cruising towards an important victory.

The game was heading towards a draw. In the 88th minute, the referee pointed towards the spot for a penalty. Pompey striker Colby calmly converted the penalty. But the drama started after the penalty. When the ball went out for a throw, a Port Vale fan started chasing the referee. The referee ran off the pitch and the fan was stopped by the staff of both the teams.

It looks like the fan was not happy with the decision and his team losing at the last minute after the hard work. However, the home team is going to take strong action against the concerned person.

The Valiants have put out a club statement that they condemn the incident. They have also confirmed that the club is working with the relevant authorities to make sure the incident does not happen again. Port Vale also added that entering the pitch on any occasion is a criminal offense.

As far as their on-pitch performance is concerned, they remain in the 20th position three points above the relegation zone. Hence, it looks like nothing is going well for the Valiants on and off the pitch.
