“A Rocket for the First Goal of the Season” – NWSL Starts With a Bang as 2X Champions North Carolina Courage Brush Past Kansas City Current on Opening Day

Fans’ long wait finally ended as the 2023 season of NWSL just kicked off. North Carolina Courage faced and won against Kansas City Current at WakeMed Soccer Park, North Carolina. This has to be the most awaited season kickoff of the league ever as the popularity of soccer is on an exponential rise in the States.

Well-known names outside of soccer like Naomi Osaka, Patrick Mahomes, Alexis Ohanian, Natalie Portman, and others are also attached to the league. The opener match today was between Naomi Osaka’s team and the team partly owned by NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Fans react to the NWSL opener

In the 24th Minute Danish soccer star Mille Gejl summoned her inner Lionel Messi as she opened the counter of goals from way outside the box. To say Kansas Current’s goalkeeper, Adrianna Franch, was caught off-guard with that laser-guided kick would be an understatement. The rest of the first half remained mostly eventless, and it ended 1-0 in favor of the North Carolina Courage. Here is how fans reacted to the goal.

Both teams made many attempts in 2nd half but it remained goalless. The 2023 season had a moderate start from Kansas City Current while North Carolina Courage had an electrifying one.

EA botched their latest update

Just a few days before the NWSL kickoff, after a long wait, EA Sports finally launched the NWSL feature for their FIFA 23 title. While fans were initially excited to play the feature, their joy quickly turned into a frown. As it turned out EA didn’t really care about the quality of the product they were putting out.

Not only fans but the players themselves were outraged on Twitter looking at the horrible graphics of the game.
