Shakira has been at the center of attention ever since the world saw the controversial split between her and Gerard Pique. Ever since the split last June, this once-loving couple has been involved in custody battles and taking subtle digs at each other.

This has caused a lot of drama and controversy around the former celebrity couple. However, the Colombian singer has decided to move on from the drama and start a new phase in her life. Shakira on April 2 left her and Pique’s Barcelona home in Spain. She along with her two kids, Sasha and Milan, moved to her mansion in Miami.

The move placed her among some highly famous neighbors in the area. One of those neighbors is Ricky Martin, the Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, and actor. Before they were neighbors in Miami, Shakira received a touching gesture of support from Martin after a difficult personal experience.

Though Shakira and Gerard Pique’s split last June garnered much of the media spotlight, it was a different personal experience for Shakira that triggered a reach out from Martin. Late May last year, the singer’s father suffered major head trauma due to a serious fall, causing Shakira unimaginable heartbreak.

Shakira later posted a moving Instagram video of her helping her father, William Mebarak, recover from his trauma.

In the video, Shakira can be seen showing some placards to her father so that he can read and pronounce them. In a heartfelt expression of support, the “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer left a comment in response to Shakira’s post.

Though much time has passed and things have changed, Martin’s comment still shines as an act of kindness. Having moved back to her Miami home with her children, Shakira must be glad to be around supportive people like Ricky Martin.
