Alex Morgan chooses Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo
In 2015, ESPN asked Morgan to have a say in the longstanding debate. The Barcelona fan was clear about her choice with reasons. Morgan said, “I would have to say Messi because I think he’s just so much better than it seems. Like, he’s just for some reason, a level higher than any other player I watch. He’s just a really exciting player to watch, and I’m a follower of Barcelona, so obviously.”

Morgan also reiterated the same in 2017. She visited Camp Nou to watch the game between Barcelona and Deportivo La Coruna. Barcelona won the game 4-0. Morgan called Messi the best, despite the Argentine wasn’t on the scoresheet. She labeled watching him play in person as special.
ESPN asked Morgan after she was selected to appear on EA Sports FIFA 16 cover in America with Lionel Messi. Morgan was one of three female soccer players selected to appear on the cover with Messi. The other two soccer stars were Christine Sinclair for the Canadian version and Stephanie Catley of Australia. EA Sports added 12 national teams to FIFA 16, making it the first version to include women.
