Many have crossed their fingers for a possible return of Messi to the Spotify Camp Nou. However, Barcelona’s archrivals’ legend doesn’t want the 35-year-old to come back for a last dance. Former Real Madrid star, Míchel Salgado, has revealed it would bother him if the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner came back to Catalonia.
While speaking to CULEMANIA, the former defender was asked if Messi will return to Barcelona. He said, “Well, it would bother me a lot, really… (smiles). Because Messi does not matter how old he is, at 38, 40 or whatever, he is a guy who makes a difference. A danger.”
Salgado, who is currently playing for an Indian Futsal team, Kerala Cobras, says he would be scared to see Messi’s return. The former Spanish international also praised the PSG man saying despite Messi’s growing age, he’ll continue to make a difference on the pitch. Either way, it seems Salgado is quite afraid to see the No.10 return to his childhood club.
Even after leaving Madrid, the Spaniard seems a bit intimidated by the rumors of his return. Be as it may, the question still stands; will Messi return to Barcelona?
Will Messi return to Barcelona?
Barcelona recently enjoyed significant success by winning the La Liga title. But that followed with bidding farewell to their legends, specifically, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. This may bring sadness, but it also paves the way for much bigger things, primarily, lightening the wage bill. The Blaugrana see it as a green light to bring Messi back to the Primera Division.

However, they must need to sort out their finances in order to afford the La Pulga. They are already behind their salary cap and are facing difficulties to register new contracts. Therefore, even if Messi agrees to a possible move, they need to get a green light from La Liga. Hence, it will be a busy summer for Barcelona, who’ll be looking to adjust Messi into their ranks. While they keep up with their uphill task, Messi may test the waters by looking at other potential clubs.
