Hollywood star Jeremy Renner, who suffered a snow plow accident recently, once showed his soccer skills in the Soccer Aid game in 2014. Renner was part of the Rest of the World team, captained by Welsh actor Michael Sheen. The game in 2014 raised over $5 million in funds that went to UNICEF for child care.

British singers Robbie Williams and Jonathan Wilkes started Soccer Aid in 2006. It was then a biennial until 2018. It is a soccer game between the English and the Rest of the World teams. The teams consist of celebs and former soccer stars and take place in England. Renner showed his soccer skills for the Rest of the World team in 2014, who beat England in a charity event.

The Hurt Locker star was part of the Rest of a World team and was managed by Jose Mourinho. Michael Sheen (C) and James McAvoy accompanied Renner on the team. Chef Gordon Ramsay, Westlife’s Nicky Byrne, comedian Patrick Kielty, The Musketeers actor Santiago Cabrera, and Man v Food presenter Adam Richman were also part of the Rest of the World team.

Former soccer stars Alessandro Del Piero, Clarence Seedorf, Edwin van der Sar, Jaap Stam, and Edgar Davids made up the team. The charity took place at Old Trafford on 8th June 2014 which saw Renner’s team beat England thanks to the hat trick by Seedorf.

England’s team had Robbie Williams, Homeland star Damian Lewis, former Doctor Who Matt Smith, and True Blood’s Stephen Moyer. Singers Mark Owen and Olly Murs, comics John Bishop and Jack Whitehall, and presenters Ben Shephard, Paddy McGuinness, and Jamie Theakston also were on England roster. English footballers on the roster included Jamie Redknapp, Jamie Carragher, David Seaman, and Teddy Sheringham.

Over 70,000 fans attended the game and helped raise over $5 million with the support of the Government. UNICEF used the money for life-saving medicines, food, and clean water for the world’s vulnerable children. The soccer game proved to be an example of bringing everyone together to raise money for a noble cause. 

Renner broke over 30 bones in a recent accident

The Hollywood star recently was run over by a snow plow outside his house in Nevada. Renner was clearing the snow outside his home when the tragedy took place. In a recent social media post, the actor revealed he broke over 30 bones.

It was a terrible accident, and the star was critical for several days. His Marvel co-stars and fans wished him a speedy recovery. He thanked fans and well-wishers by posting his bed-ridden photo from the hospital.
