In the current English Premier League season, we have seen many turnovers of managers. One of them was American coach Jesse Marsch. He received the sack from Leeds United after the club performed poorly in the league. However, reports suggest Marsch is in line to take over the reins of Southampton soccer club. In fact, the Saints sacked Nathan Jones after the club languished at the bottom of the table.

It is a confusing surprise as he was hired eight days after his sack against Leeds United.  After a poor run of results, Leeds United stands 17th in the table, while Southampton has 15 points and stays in 20th position.

Jesse Marsch set to take over Southampton

On the other hand, Marsch remains keen on taking the Southampton project, hoping to take the club above the relegation zone. It will become the third appointment by the Saints. Earlier, they had Ralph Hasenhuttl in charge, only for him to receive the sack when the league paused due to the Qatar World Cup. After that, the club hired former Luton manager Nathan Jones. According to Sky Sports, the club is closing on the final terms. The game against Chelsea would be the first time he makes an appearance.

Marsch is happy to sign a short deal with the club. Thus, the chances of taking Southampton out of the relegation zone look bleak, but Jesse remains excited. After all, he has a point to prove to his former owners. He kept them up after a sensational run of results during last season. But, things didn’t go as planned, despite making some key signings, including USMNT star Weston McKennie for the current campaign.

Despite Nathan Jones taking Southampton to the Carabao Cup semi-finals, he lost seven out of his eight games in charge with the club. The board ultimately decided to call the shots and sacked the manager. In his last press conference, Jones’ body language suggested he was unsure about the future he had with the club. Therefore, the owners acted immediately, and a new revolution will take place in St. Mary’s Stadium. Hopefully, the former Leeds United manager comes up on top, and he would hopefully land the job with a point to prove.
