From the sacking of the manager, Thomas Tuchel, to spending record-breaking money to sign players in transfer windows, while still delivering an underwhelming performance. Boehly has certainly become a controversial figure in the club’s history.
Now, the $3.1 billion-worth club is being accused of cheating the Financial Fair Play rules.
Chelsea’s accusation of cheating Financial Fair play
Chelsea has made the signing of winger Mykhailo Mudryk and defender Benoit Badiashile on eight-and-a-half-year deals and six-and-a-half-year deals, respectively. Along with that, Chelsea also made a couple more signings on the same lengthy contracts. However, according to FIFA, clubs are not allowed to sign players on more than five-year deals.
🚨Chelsea accused of using long-term contracts to cheat the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play rules.

Chelsea has reportedly bypassed this restriction by exploiting a certain clause by registering the extra years as options to extend. This means that, technically, the deals are only for five years – but the extra years are effectively guaranteed, as the option to extend is effectively a formality.
Not only that, Chelsea has spent more than $500 million on transfers and that clearly violates the Fair Play Rules. This is a clear indication that the club is not adhering to the financial regulations set by FIFA.

In spite of firing Thomas Tuchel and bringing in the new manager, Graham Potter, Chelsea is still struggling. Chelsea is currently standing in 10th position in the Premier League, which is not the appropriate position for this historic club. While there are still a lot of seasons, things are not looking good for this London side.
It is true that the club made some huge signings in the transfer window and spent millions in doing so. However, these new signings have not been able to make the desired impact on the team’s performance. As a result, the club is still struggling to find its feet under the new manager.
