Cristiano Ronaldo is all set to start a new chapter of his career in Asian soccer with Al Nassr. He completed the $200 million per year deal with the club and was unveiled last week. While speaking after his presentation, the Portuguese revealed several offers from Europe, the US, and Brazil were on the table. Corinthians was one of the clubs that wanted to sign an ex-Manchester United forward.

However, the Brazilian club, after Ronaldo’s snub, is looking to the former Barcelona player as an alternative. The European soccer transfer window is open now, and the club wants to give a shot to sign the current Aston Villa star on loan.
Corinthians want Philippe Coutinho as Cristiano Ronaldo’s alternative
The seven-time Brazilian Serie A champions are looking to bolster their squad ahead of a new season. Corinthians last won the league in 2017 and finished fourth in the last season. Club’s President, Duilio Monteiro Alves, is now planning to go for struggling Aston Villa playmaker Coutinho.
Alves said, “The contact exists, and the desire is there, but it is a very difficult deal. We want the player on loan, but while the transfer window in Europe is open, everything is very difficult. It is still a very premature operation, but we have to try.”

Since his move from Liverpool to FC Barcelona, Coutinho has struggled to make an impact. The big-money move to the Spanish giants hasn’t gone well, and the form of the player has been declining since then. Villa has put the player on the transfer list and is hoping to recoup the transfer fees paid for him.
Although Corinthians are interested in the deal, everything depends on the player now. They still have time, and if they fail to land the player in January, the club can go for him in the summer transfer window. Alves also revealed his attempts to sign a Portuguese captain in a recent interview.

Club President, in his interview with Bandeirantes’ Donos da Bola, revealed his intentions to sign five times Ballon d’Or winner. Alves held talks with Ronaldo’s agent and were willing to offer a salary on par with what he was receiving at Manchester United. Brazilian club was also willing to give a two-year deal for the Portuguese.
However, the audacious offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr FC blew away all the competitors who wanted to sign Ronaldo. Can Corinthians be able to take Coutinho on loan from Aston Villa? Will Coutinho ever return to his Liverpool form?
