Southend United is a soccer club located in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. The team plays in the National League, the fifth division of the English soccer league. After being relegated back to back two years in a row, the team dropped from the third division to the fifth.

Now it looks like this historic club is on the brink of extinction. With several failures and a time limit to pay a seven-figure payment, things are not looking good for the club and the fans of the team. So what really happened?

The soccer club can cease to exist

Southend is facing a financial crisis by failing to pay their staff and even their players. The club was also put on a Transfer embargo following the crisis. Due to bad management and bad performance, the team has continued to lose around $2.4 million per year.

And according to reports, the United chairman, Ron Martin has to pay a seven-figure sum before March 1st, or the club’s existence will be at a risk. Now, with just 22 days left, the club is in danger of extinction. This is a daunting task for any club, let alone one that is already struggling to stay afloat.
