Now it looks like this historic club is on the brink of extinction. With several failures and a time limit to pay a seven-figure payment, things are not looking good for the club and the fans of the team. So what really happened?

The soccer club can cease to exist

Southend is facing a financial crisis by failing to pay their staff and even their players. The club was also put on a Transfer embargo following the crisis. Due to bad management and bad performance, the team has continued to lose around $2.4 million per year.

And according to reports, the United chairman, Ron Martin has to pay a seven-figure sum before March 1st, or the club’s existence will be at a risk. Now, with just 22 days left, the club is in danger of extinction. This is a daunting task for any club, let alone one that is already struggling to stay afloat.

Fans protesting for Martin to step down

The fans of the team are understandably upset and worried about the future of their beloved club. They are writing and showing their anger towards Ron Martin. Fans are protesting for him to step down as the owner of the club, blaming him for his poor management and for leading the team to the financial crisis it is facing today.
Southend United has been a part of the community for over a hundred years, and it would be a shame to see it go extinct. We can only hope that the team can find a way to overcome this crisis and continue to exist for many more years to come.
